Surface-Based Games for Education and Exercise
This is an ongoing project.
Obesity is a growing problem among children, due in part to their sedentary lifestyles. Time spent engaged in physical activity is decreasing, while time spent playing video games is on the rise. We leverage children’s interest in digital games to encourage physical activity through a variety of surface-based game prototypes. Current research investigates the cognitive benefits in terms of focus and attention of deploying these movement-based games in a K-8 school. We are also investigating the physical and cognitive benefits of these movement-based games for elderly users.
